MP Veronika Honkasalo (left) visited Lviv in western Ukraine from 4 to 6 June. May as part of a delegation of invited politicians from left-wing politicians across Europe.

Russia hit the city of Lviv with missiles the night before crossing the border.

Honkasalo says that he considers it important that war crimes committed by Russian soldiers be investigated. The large-scale and brutal violence against women that has come to light must be taken into account.

  • Russia's imperialist war of aggression violates the basic human rights of Ukrainians in the most brutal way possible, ie by destroying their right to live and their right to self-determination, Honkasalo says in a press release.

According to Honkasalo, the resistance of the Ukrainians needs all possible support, but the reconstruction work must also start now.

  • For this to succeed, Ukraine's external debt must be forgiven, Honkasalo suggests.

The Left Alliance is involved in an international campaign demanding that the European Central Bank (ECB) take responsibility for Ukraine's debt service.
